Notebooking - Accountability and Assessment

Hey Notebooking Teachers,

I can't believe there were 26 of us in the classroom on a sweltering hot Saturday afternoon collaborating on notebooking!  You are awesome!!

Amanda, Joseph, and I are beginning our inquiry into 158 beautiful eighth grade brains.

We invite you to join us in our inquiry.

We will share and post documents and insights as we go.

We aim to make thinking visible to the students, to peers, to teachers, and to parents  as a means to inform teaching and learning.

Hope to hear from you, too.  What are you learning from your notebooks?  What's working?  What's not?

There seems to be lots of concerns about time!    We'll be looking for  ways to enjoy our inquiry, use research-based best assessment practices, and make sure we have time for ourselves and our families.  (Can we do it?)

Here are links to the documents that we talked about or used in Saturday's workshop.

Would love to hear and learn more about "notebooking." Is notebooking like keeping a subject-focused journal? Reflections from the day or lesson, notes to the teacher or to another reader,... How is "notebooking" different from just keeping a notebook with assignments, class notes, lab reports, etc? Sorry for the basic questions. : - /

I love my students' notebooks--this is the third year and my students love them.  We take our notes, create a glossary, and complete foldables--all in the journal.   Keep the ideas coming!!!
