In this second webinar in our 2010-2011 series on English language learners, William Saunders, Research Associate at the University of California, Los Angeles, and Claude Goldenberg, Professor of Education at Stanford University, will provide an overview of the current research with the aim of identifying effective guidelines for English language development (ELD) instruction. First, the presenters will define and explain ELD instruction and explain how it differs from sheltered content instruction. They will then present guidelines for ELD instruction derived from the six syntheses and meta-analyses they reviewed and evaluate the strength of the evidence for each of these guidelines.
