Part I of our series on the impact the Common Core State Standards will have on science instruction in the middle grades. In this session, we’ll explore the reading standards for grades 6-8. Learn about the standards themselves, discover resources that can help you modify your instruction to meet them, and join the emerging conversation with other educators. You’ll get the most out of the seminar if you’ve browsed these standards ahead of time. Go to http://corestandards.org/, click on English Language Arts, and scroll to the Reading Standards for Literacy in Science and Technical Subjects 6-12.

No problem - it was probably my mistake!

Jessica - Sorry about that - I changed the "writing" to "reading" in the description. Kim

Just to clarify - this session is about the reading standards. The description above incorrectly mentions the writing standards. Our session on writing will be in April!

Hi Mary,

Since the standards were developed by two different groups, I'm not sure how much information was shared between the two. I'm glad to hear you're interested and look forward to "seeing" you online March 14!

I'm very interested in this! I wonder how much cross discipline consultation went on between those developing the new science framework with its crosscutting ideas, including communication in science, and those who developed the LA common core.
